Destroyers
Austro-Hungarian "Satellit"

Although the Trabant, built 1889/90, also failed to attain the contracted speed, the A.-H. Navy nevertheless accepted the design and then ordered an improved type with increased speed, the Satellit, from F. Schichau Photo of <<OGNEVOY>>. For the first time, hull steel material was manufactured by domestic iron works. During construction a discussion arose if, when building the next vessel, one should follow the international trend as represented by the British Daring. Despite these considerations, however, the Austrians chose to order from Schichau an improved Satellit, christened Magnet.
Satellit received mine laying equipment for 20 mines in 1894. The bow torpedo tube was removed in 1906, instead she received two turnable broadside deck torpedo tubes in 1908. Satellit received three Yarrow watertube boilers instead of the four old cylindrical boilers in 1912 Photo of <<OGNEVOY>> and therefore three funnels.Additional Data Sheet
